The public road and parking lots are no places for car wrecks

The public road and parking lots are no places for car wrecks. The Public Entity Saba, in collaboration with the Police department, is conducting a survey to make an inventory of all car wrecks on the Island.

An initial group of car wreck owners have been identified and will receive a letter from the Governor, and a sticker placed on the motor vehicle. The owner is asked to remove the car before August 7th. Wrecks not removed on or before this date will be removed at the owner’s expense.

  1. This is great… BUT!!!!

How about some safety reviews and some measures about places hard to get by when cars are using the street as their parking lot. It is dangerous trying to get up Booby Hill…. just after you go by the fence and you start up Booby Hill most of the time you have to navigate the BLIND spot there before you get to Teacher Elaine’s … almost got hit trying to get around the parked cars and not being able to see if or who is coming down the hill. Person coming down of course was going a bit fast and had to slam on their brakes on wet pavement and we almost met. At least put up a mirror….

The same goes just outside Windardside at English Quarter… sometimes the cars are parked soooo deep you have no place to get out of the way if someone is coming when you are trying to pass the parked cars…. and of course headed to the Airport…. just after the Church… another major Blind spot… and no place to go when the cars are 4 or 5 deep.

Has anyone thought of a few open spaces marked ‘No Parking’ in these areas so that people are not forced to reverse back since they are technically on the wrong side of the road???

    Just asking….just a thought….

  2. PARKING ON THE PUBLIC WAY IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR SABA. MANY PEOPLE ARE EVEN ALLOWED TO LEAVE CARS WHICH FULLY BLOCK PUBLIC ACCESS. IN THE EVENT OF SERIOUS PUBLIC PROBLEMS, IE FIRE, VIOLENCE, AMBULANCE ACCESS , TIME IS ESSENTIAL. WE NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN CLARIFICATION OF NECESSARY PUBLIC WAYS, AND TO INFORM THE POLICE TO TICKET AND EVEN POSSIBLY TOW OFFENDING VEHICLES.
