• From Malick on Merger of WIB and MCB banks is painful on Saba

This was a painful sight to see on Saba. A complete lack of foresight and organisation on the part of this bank.

Elderly and infirmed individuals had to endure unnecessary heat, inadequate seating was just a few of the issues the people on Saba faced with this disorganized operation. It shows a complete disrespect for Saba peoples’ time and for our patronage over the years to WIB bank.

    Very disappointed in the process…

  • From Rene Caderius van Veen on Commissioner Wilson to agriculture congress in Curaçao

This is 10 years later than the Sabagro project with university Wageningen. If Commissionar Chris Johnson would have listened to all recommendations, Saba would have been a frontrunner!

  • From andries bonnema on Sharp decline in tourism contributes to the GDP contraction on Saba

Not sure how useful this info is. Obviously both tourism and student rentals were down in 2020. 2020 also ended 21 months ago. How are numbers of 2020 useful for policy decisions if they aren’t available until Oct 2022?

  • From Jim Mihalic on Sharp decline in tourism contributes to the GDP contraction on Saba

Current factors also affecting travel are high airfare from US.

Almost doubled from “normal” rates of past causing us to re-evaluate our ability to visit along with duration and frequency of visiting .
Even traveling with the higher than normal airlift rates reduces ability to spend more money locally per person which hurts the local economy as well.

  • From Alida Heilbron on Commissioner Zagers welcomes the establishing of a Task Force

Glad to know the Task Force is now a reality and great to see how the topics that the SBA has been pressing on for a few years now, are the main focus of the Task Force. Banking issues have been lingering too long now as well as poor internet service. The business community is highly depending on these 2 services especially, and if we want to attract investors we better get this regulated without delay. As the SBA told State Secretary van Huffelen: we do not want better internet and banking services, we NEED better internet and banking services.
