Hans does not mention that he also considers the wishlist of his clients. That could result in a different view.
His recent action to create Winair income by offering large discounts for one-day tourists to travel to Saba and Statia is very detrimental for the residents. They see their travel options significantly reduced as seats are taken by tourists.

One-day tourists may be OK for restaurants that offer lunches, and WINAIR, but not for the residents.

We should thank the Honorable and Distinguished Governor Jonathan Johnson that Saba is being entrusted with 5.4 million to improve quality of life on Saba. Governor Johnson has honored and has served Saba for more than 15 years Extraordinary; with Good Ethics and Intelligence. He has been a warrior for Saba, a patriot who embodied much that is best in Saba (being in accordance with the rules or standards for right conduct or practice, especially the standards of Leadership) just like his Uncle Will Johnson! Lt. Governor Johnson’s uncompromising quality in negotiation for Saba has left an enduring impact on the quality of Life of the Island Saba people for generations to come as the most Dynamic Visionary Governor and Statesman in the entire Dutch Kingdom!
His Wonderful and Beautiful Aunt Patsy Johnson once told me when she was teaching me to play the Piano in her house; since I Kept insisting on a note “Cristian You are so Stubborn” and in her words I say to Honorable Lt. Governor Jonathan Johnson, to be stubborn in keeping the Rule of Law and in Standing up for Justice and Equality for All people! and in standing up for the wonderful People of Saba and to keep the exemplary Good Work and continue to lead Saba Vigorously!

$ 5.4 million Euros for our quality of life is a great deal of money. Are there published plans for its expenditure? Several residents and I would surely like to see a fairly detailed accounting of how the money will be spent.

It will really amount to $27.00 per resident when the bulk of the money disappears and is unaccounted for.

I’m not a detective, but I see a pattern here. It appears that some are being treated unequally, when it come to paying jobs/contracts, while the selected few are getting them all! Saba is on a decline when it comes to morals, but then again it’s what “The People “ voted for!….

It is astonishing that Bonaire is complaining that Saba and Statia are holding them back in legislative procedures. I think the Commissioners of the two islands should help to move things forward and not Backwards in giving timely reports to Bonaire so that transition to the new Council can move smoothly and steady!!!
Mr. Geert Wilders and his PVV party have established in the Netherlands that they want to remove Funding for Culture in the Dutch Islands. I say this to Mr. Geert Wilders as in the words of John F. Kennedy : ‘Those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside’!

I fully support you, but for reasons we all know I am withholding my name also.

I was fortunate to spend Y2K on Saba. I was in the IT profession back then. Remember when they said the internet may all blow up due to old software? Remember the cost of calling the US or St Martin? Little or no internet? Now, we’re worried about internet speed.

You say “while also keeping an eye out for new developments such as internet satellites.”
Being a former cable and fiber optics guy, I’d suggest you do more than “keep an eye out” on internet satellites. Presently, there are amazing high-speed choices available with satellite internet. A simple search will produce options. Starlink, Hughesnet and Viasat come to mind.

And it’s much cheaper than running fiber across the island to connect to copper then to business and homes- “fiber to the curb” it’s called.

With the ability to geolocate users, I’m sure the government could reach out to providers and inquire about pricing. I don’t even know if they offer it. But, it’s worth a call.

Installation and repair of fiber optics and copper is not cheap.

The thoughtfulness of the Teacher of Form 2A and the wonderful Students of Form 2A did a Remarkable and an Extraordinary gesture by honoring the staff members of the Saba Waste Management Facility! This is a very meaningful gesture, and I am One hundred percent (100%) certain that the Staff is very grateful and appreciative of this! Activities and Undertakings such as the aforementioned kind is one that all of Saba can be very proud of!!! To encourage our young people such as Form 2A to do this inspires within them a sense of Service and Responsibility in our Society as valuable citizens.
