The Daily Herald writes that six young ladies of the six Dutch Caribbean islands will vie for the title of Miss Dutch Caribbean Islands Queen at Festival Village in The Bottom on Thursday, July 30, starting at 8:00pm.
Representing Saba will be Charvella Wilson. She will be competing against D’shnay Mathew York (St. Maarten), Shanettie Carty (St. Eustatius); Janirey Severino (Aruba); Jurnalis Henson (Curaçao), and Radira Alberto (Bonaire).
These young ladies have all been crowned queen at least once in their history of pageantry. “The performances by these young ladies are expected to be on a high calibre, which will make this show an exciting one,” said pageant organizer Beatrix Heyliger. The ladies will be arriving on Saba on Tuesday, July 28, where they will engage in various activities to become familiar with Saba and get prepared for the pageant.
“We invite persons near and far to join us on this 40th anniversary. This historic event will also bring us all together in unity,” said Heyliger.
Tickets for the show will go on sale later this week. “Six islands; six ladies, however, only one queen. Saba is the place to be on July 30,” Heyliger commented.
